Sheikh Mohamed, Saudi Crown Prince Discuss ‘Green Middle East’ Initiative

It will be the largest reforestation program in the world that would contribute to preserving environment and sustaining renewable sources.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received a call on Monday from Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence.

Sheikh Mohamed praised Prince Mohammed’s initiative and its lasting impact on overcoming economic and social challenges faced by the region’s environment and improving quality of life. They discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced the green initiatives on Saturday, which aim to reduce carbon emissions in the region by 60 percent, tackle deforestation, enhance the efficiency of oil production, and increase the contribution of renewable energy, in addition to multiple efforts to preserve the marine and coastal environment and increase the proportion of natural reserves.
